Thanks! Apparently it is now. Several signs in the area warn of recent "dangerous bear activity," and when we asked the rangers about it, they said it's because people have been feeding the bears. People, DON'T FEED THE BEARS!

Welcome back to this strange virtual world - Brent asked me the other day why you'd stopped blogging :)

Good luck with the start of school!! I can't wait to hear about it. No job openings yet in OR, but I'm keeping an eye out.

I've got to get to one of these cuppings sometime:) Any other favorite places to get coffee in Portland? I'm such an amateur. I like Grendel's: http://www.yelp.com/biz/grendels-coffee-house-portland

And the Albina Press had a really inviting ambiance: http://www.yelp.com/biz/albina-press-portland

Great post and wonderful photos of this very special island. I love Ocracoke and enjoy reading about how others see and spend time in this really unique place. Fall and Spring really are super times to be there - fewer tourists and your dog (such a cute pic) can run on the beach! And Springer Point is beyond words - what a hidden jewel it is! Great pics!!
